Fender Functions
The fender could protect the vehicle and pedestrians from splashed dust somehow, and especially on muddy road, the wheel rolls with water and dirt splashed which hit front and back bumpers. If a fender is not assembled, the flying little rocks may also damage vehicle body parts and make noises.
Fender Mould Design
1 Air vent
To set air vent groove at sub channel ends and weld line areas with depth of ≤0.05mm, width 10mm to prevent overflow. Moreover to vent through gaps between parting surfaces, ejector parts and insert parts also guarantees the venting requirement.
2 Gating system
As no gates are allowed at part surface and self shearing gates are better, we choose submarine gate type. Through mold flow analysis to get best solution for gate quantity and locations, proper runner system shape and layout. Cold slags should be set at runner ends to avoid blocking up. And to make the main runner conical shape with 3° so that freezing polymer is easy to get off the bushing.
3 Mold temperature control system
To set up water channel based on the features of fender plastic mould core and cavity structure and layout of mold components, while do not have the channels interfere with the components.
4 Mold working procedure
Firstly mold close, molten resin injected into mold, packing and cooling then mold open. Then The freezing residual resin gets off the channel. As it reaches the stroke value machine ejector cylinder works so are springs at return pins. After ejection mechanism pushes part out to ejection stroke value, get residual resin and part out, and lastly mold close to go on with next cycle.
Fender Mould Processing Procedures
For fixed half: Purchasing tool steel of P20 pre-hardened, rough milling for 6 surfaces, making datum, dripping holes and tapping, rough CNC, fine CNC, fine milling for datum corner, clearing spurs, rough polish, fine polish. Before fine CNC machining, necessary to have the workpiece stress relief in case of deflection and crack.
For moved half: Purchasing tool steel of P20 pre-hardened, rough milling for 6 surfaces, making datum, dripping holes and tapping, rough CNC, fine CNC, EDM, wire cut, fine milling for datum corner, clearing spurs, rough polish, fine polish.
