Advantages of Blow Molding
Cost-effectiveness
Blow molding is a highly efficient and cost-effective production method, particularly for large-scale manufacturing. The process allows for the production of hollow parts, reducing material usage and overall costs.
Design flexibility
Blow molding enables the production of complex shapes and designs, including intricate contours, handles, and indentations. It offers excellent design flexibility, making it suitable for a wide range of products.

Seamless construction
Blow molding creates seamless parts, eliminating the need for additional assembly or joining processes. This seamless construction enhances the structural integrity and durability of the finished products.
Wide range of materials
Blow molding supports various materials, including high-density polyethylene (hdpe), polypropylene (pp), and polyethylene terephthalate (pet). This versatility allows manufacturers to select the most suitable material for their specific application requirements.

Types of Blow Molding
Extrusion blow molding
An extruder forces molten plastic through a die head, which forms the parison around a blow pin, with the help of a rotating screw.
Injection blow molding
To make a hollow parison, molten plastic is injection molded around a core inside a parison mold. Both the parison and the core are transferred to the blow mold and securely fastened when the parison mold opens.
Stretch blow molding
It’s similar to injection blow molding in that the parison is formed in the same way. However, it is heated and stretched downward by the core before being inflated after it is transported to the blow mold.
Blow moulding is used to manufacture a wide range of products, from everyday items to industrial components. Common applications include: Bottles for soft drinks, milk, and juices. Containers for shampoo, cleaning products, and cosmetics. Toys like plastic balls and watering cans.
Industrial parts such as drums, ducts, and packaging solutions. The process is highly versatile, allowing for the creation of both simple and complex shapes, depending on the needs of the product.

Production Process of Blow Molding
Regardless of material type, blow molding has three key steps. First a controlled quantity of melt is made into parison or preform. Next, the parison is forced against a mold to increase the container volume and define the shape. Last, the molded object is cooled to retain the shape. Blow molding makes use of the steadily increasing viscosity of the glass or thermoplastic polymer melt as it cools.
The viscosity of the material at the point of “blowing” must be in the appropriate range for easy deformation against the mold without gross flow under gravity, and the rate of cooling after this point must be fast enough to raise the viscosity to levels that are necessary to retain the shape. The processes themselves are highly nonisothermal with a hot melt cooling continuously throughout, but they are also automated and reproducible.
