The goal of low-pressure injection molding is to bond the skin material with the plastic base material, eliminating the chance of peeling. The low pressure injection molding technique is more environmentally friendly since there is no glue application procedure required for the overmolding process.
The internal structure of low-pressure double-layer injection molded components may be built freely, and the flexibility of surface modeling is larger than that of the overmolding technique, with clearer and more rigid modeling characteristics.
Application of Low Pressure Injection
Automotive: In vehicles, electronics are exposed to extreme temperatures, moisture, and constant vibration. LPM is used to seal engine control units (ECUs), overmold cable assemblies, and protect the vast number of sensors used in modern cars.

Production Process of Low Pressure Injection
Low pressure insert
The electronic components or parts to be encapsulated are inserted into the mold cavity. This usually takes about 5-10 seconds to load.
Low pressure overmoulding
The low pressure molding machine injects the molten material (usually a thermoplastic) into the mold at low pressure (typically 1.5-40 bar). The material flows around and encapsulates the inserted components. This step takes about 15-60 seconds.
Cooling and ejection
The molded part is allowed to cool and solidify. Once cooled, the part is ejected from the mold. The finished part can be handled and tested immediately after molding.
