If according to the match with dashboard, the console can be classified three types:

A.Independent Type

The console and dashboard are completely separated which is normally applied on MPV (e.g. Honda Odyssey 2010, Buick GL8 2008) that functions for storage.

B.Butt Joint Type (e.g. Mazda 3, 2009 and Camry 2010)

Gap between console and IP locates at conspicuous area for this type, if the deviation is not well controlled, it may result in mismatch or installation points out of positions. Even if the mismatch happened during OTS, modifications can be done on console box mould and IP mould.

C.Plug-in Type

This type is the most popular which absorbs accumulated assembly tolerance between center console and IP, even there is mismatch, it can’t be defect.

Of course it differs quite big for vehicles in different class, medium-higher level cars have more functions and appearance needs, so they may have more components and designs for the console assembly.
